Two local under-10 teams have had their first taste of professional rugby after taking to the pitch at the home of Aviva Premiership giants Leicester Tigers.
Wymondham and Crusaders both qualified for the last eight of this season’s Prima Tiger Cup and had photos taken on the Welford Road pitch at half-time of Leicester’s recent match against Worcester, in front of over 21,000 spectators.
Following the Tigers’ 31-27 defeat the youngsters took to the pitch for the contact-based fun competition, emphasising the true values of the game.
Scott Veness, a coach at Crusaders, said: “This is the club’s first year involved with the Prima Tiger Cup and our youth development has massively increased. We’ve gone from 20 kids to over 200 so it’s fantastic to be able to bring along all out under-10s group to experience the day.”
Following the games Silhillians and Stamford were invited to play at the Prima Tiger Cup Celebration Day later this season.
