As well as celebrating a fine 239-run win over Buckinghamshire, Norfolk captain Chris Brown was able to savour passing a notable landmark.

The 41-year-old took seven for 47 on the final day of the victory, taking his 500th wicket in all formats for Norfolk.

“I’m delighted to get that 500th wicket for Norfolk, I love playing for the county,” the Horsford off-spinner said.

“The pitch suited us, we knew it was going to turn as the game went on and I was delighted to pick up seven wickets on the day.”

Brown made his Norfolk debut back in 2001 and is now in his fourth season as captain, making him all the more pleased to reach the landmark on home soil.

“I knew it was coming up but to do it at home in front of a good crowd during the festival was really special for me,” he continued.

“So really pleased with the performance and really delighted we got 24 points and got a win.

“We always play well during the festival but for the crowd and the members, there was quite a healthy gate and sponsors in the tent, it was a really good performance so really chuffed.”

The satisfaction was completed for Brown in that the landmark was achieved during a victory, having been denied by the weather at Cambridgeshire in their first three-day game, before a 145-run loss at Staffordshire.

“The first game we got washed out at Wisbech and we looked like we would have won there,” Brown added. “We were out-played at Staffs but this game we deserve all them 24 points, it was an excellent performance overall.

“Garry Park first innings, five wickets, was exceptional. And James Spelman, great to see him getting a big hundred. We know what Spelers can do so we’re really pleased for him.”
