Norfolk’s U10s continued their strong start to the season with win at Huntingdonshire.

Their innings started well, with JC Malherbe (27) leading from the front, before a flurry of run-outs left them struggling on 69-5.

A Butterworth (50 not out) steadied the innings with support from E Lewis (16) and W Panter (32 not out) with Norfolk finishing on 217-7 from 35 overs.

Captain H Thomas set an aggressive field and this proved fruitful, with Norfolk dismissing Hunts for 106 in 22 overs. B Case (5-0-24-3), O Ford (3-0-5-3) and E Lewis (3-0-16-2) were backed up by an impressive fielding display.

Norfolk’s U11s have been boosted by the backing of the Norwich branch of NFU Mutual. The deal includes sponsorship of the boys’ tour shirts which they will wear at the Minor Counties Festival at The Royal Hospital School in Ipswich in August.

Meanwhile the final of the Dr Fisher Cup will see West Norfolk take on Swaffham at Fakenham on Tuesday, July 3 (6pm). West Norfolk scored 179-2 in their 20 overs to cruise past Mattishall (71) in the second semi-final.
