Eastern Kung Fu and Kickboxing Academy have a hot prospect on their hands in the shape of Callum Keir, who powered his way to winning his first national tournament of 2010.

The 14year-old from Stalham High School barely broke sweat as his efforts proved too much for his international opponents. Coaches Gavin and Jacqui Keir watched proudly as Callum dominated his two fights in stylish fashion, taking only 90 seconds to win his first match 9-3.

The final proved to be just as comfortable for the now seasoned national and international competitor, as he beat his opponent 8-2 in the boys' 5ft 4in-plus black belt, above semi-contact category.

This has taken him one step closer to his dream of competing in the United States. The performances are there, which means it is now down to raising the required funds.

Callum trains at Sprowston, Acle and Stalham kickboxing clubs, with EKKA clearly proud of his latest achievements.

EKKA had further reason for celebration as another of their young fighters made his debut in competition outside of Norfolk. Training with Callum at Acle, 14-year-old Daniel Smith, from Notre Dame High School in Norwich, gained valuable experience on the national stage, while missing out on a position on the league table.

EKKA have kung fu and semi-contact (points) clubs in Sprowston, Acle and Stalham, while Norwich and Lowestoft also host kung fu for ages as young as four.

Anyone interested in following in Callum and Daniel's footsteps should contact the club on either 07596 991947 or email ekka@live.co.uk
