West ham striker Sebastien Haller viewed his team’s win over Norwich City as an important three points, after his goal helped the Hammers to a 2-0 home victory.

The Frenchman - who turned down the opportunity to join Norwich from Utrecht back in January 2016 - was in the thick of the action as it was his late tackle which injured City skipper Christoph Zimmermann. Three minutes later Haller was slotting home an Arthur Masuaka cross and Zimmermann was limping off the pitch.

For the hosts it continued the recovery from a 5-0 home defeat to Manchester City, drawing 1-1 at Brighton and winning 3-1 at Watford.

"It's really good for the confidence of everyone, when you get seven points from 12," Haller said. "We know it will be more difficult to play against the top seven teams.

"So all the other teams behind have to fight for the points, so it's really important to win those games."

Haller was a club-record £45million signing from Frankfurt and took his tally to three goals in three games with his first-half strike. The 25-year-old feels he is adapting quickly to the physical demands of the Premier League.

"It's not easy, it's quite tough," he continued, talking to his club's official website. "The duels, the intensity of the runs and everything, but I am trying to adapt myself, to speak with everyone, to try to do everything to get the good information to do the things to do well.

"It's only the first games, and my first goals, so hopefully I will get more for this club."

The Frenchman became only the fourth player to score three goals in his first three Premier League appearances for West Ham, after Trevor Sinclair, Ian Wright and Demba Ba.

"Of course I am really happy, not only for my goal but especially because it's really important to get a good start to the season," he said. "Every point we gain now is one we don't have to look for at the end, so I think it's important to win before the international break.

"I'm a striker, so I'm really happy of course to score. These are my first games for this club, so it's really important to score goals to get the confidence, and share the confidence with the team."
