Wes Hoolahan can be Norwich City's pied piper this season.
The 34-year-old conjured a fantastic goal in his first summer outing during the midweek 3-0 friendly win over Coventry City.
Alex Neil is backing a clutch of exciting young talent to blossom in the Championship promotion push ahead, but the Scot believes the likes of Josh and Jacob Murphy, James Maddison and Segi Canos can also learn a trick or two from the master.
“He is the creator in the team. If you get the ball to him then things happen,” said Neil. “It was pleasing, even in pre-season, to see him get on the scoresheet.
“That is something we would like to get more goals out of him because he creates so much for us, but that was effectively his first 45 minutes since a holiday so there is more to come.”
City’s Murphy twins completed a routine win over the Sky Blues, in what is a pivotal breakthrough season for the 21-year-olds.
“They have pace and that is something which terrifies defenders and the good thing about those two is they put it to good use,” said Neil. “I had a chat with them at the end of last year and said for them this is a big season. Potentially the season when they can go and stake a claim, because in terms of people in their position there is not a huge amount blocking it up. We had Bradley (Johnson) and Nathan (Redmond) in the past and this is now time for them to step up.”
