Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores has likened his team’s clash with Norwich City to a cup final, with both sides rooted to the foot of the Premier League table.

The Hornets head to Carrow Road without win this season, sitting two points below the Canaries ahead of Friday night's televised encounter (8pm kick-off).

"We are talking about us, that's most important, but we know how Norwich think right now and they think that it is a very tough match, very important for them," said the Spaniard.

"Everything they are thinking about us, we are thinking about them, so it will be like a big, big final for both teams.

"It's not the end of the season but it is a big final for both of us and for the way the result can change the future of both teams, it could be very massive."

Flores will have captain Troy Deeney available again for the game, after the striker missed two months following knee surgery.

It looks likely that the 31-year-old will not be fit enough to start, after returning to full training this week, but the Hornets have other players returning to fitness as well.

"It's very good news," Flores continued. "Not just for Deeney, also for (Etienne) Capoue, also for (Jose) Holebas, also for (Sebastian) Prodl, also for (Ismaila) Sarr, players who have recovered during the week. It's many players, we have more options so it's okay for the team.

Deeney has scored 123 goals in 373 matches for Watford and remains a talismanic figure, having helped the Hornets reach the FA Cup final and secure a fifth consecutive season in the top flight last season

"If I say we miss him a lot, it could sound like an excuse," Flores added at his pre-match press conference, speaking to Watford'd website.

"So we don't want excuses right now. We just want to play and improve on everything, but obviously everyone knows Troy Deeney in this team, what it means for the club, so you can imagine.

"He was doing amazing before to try to reach this match, to try to arrive for this match. He's ready, he was training very, very passionately, transmitting the advice to the other players and trying to give us this positive energy that he has always."
