Mustard sports editor Michael Bailey and Eastern Daily Press chief writer Paddy Davitt have their say following Norwich City’s EFL Championship defeat at the struggling Brewers.
City gifted Burton a first-half lead through Cauley Woodrow, thanks primarily to a big mistake from Timm Klose.
And although City’s renewed purpose after the break following Wes Hoolahan’s half-time introduction brought a fortuitous equaliser from Cameron Jerome, the Canaries were level for just four minutes, as Michael Kightly’s fantastic individual goal gave the Brewers a rare Championship win.
Alex Neil’s Canaries are now seven points off the top six places, as their hopes for a third successive promotion from the second tier hang by a thread.
And it doesn’t promise to get any easier from here. The Canaries have a quieter week following their defeat on the Trent – but they return to action on Sunday in front of the Sky Sports cameras, for an East Anglian derby day with arch rivals Ipswich Town at Carrow Road in a 12pm kick-off.
