The youthful influence on Norwich City’s squad will help in the fight against complacency, believes in-form midfielder Tom Trybull.

Academy youngsters Jamal Lewis, Ben Godfrey and Max Aarons have been important players for the Canaries in recent weeks, helping Daniel Farke’s side back to the Championship summit.

City are two points clear of nearest rivals Leeds and four ahead of third-placed Sheffield United ahead of a weekend when they take to the pitch first, hosting mid-table Swansea at Carrow Road tonight.

“I would say our young lads don’t think so much about it, because of their age,” Trybull said of pressure potentially affecting the Canaries squad during the final 11 matches of the campaign.

“They aren’t thinking about what could happen in the future. They are just focused on each and every game and that is what we all have to do.

“It makes no sense to look at next season or what will happen in five games time. If we do that, we will have problems.

“We are confident but not arrogant and that’s a big difference. We know we have 11 tough games and no game is easy in this competition.

“Each game is very hard and we have to fight for each and every point and that starts against Swansea.”

The 25-year-old former Werder Bremen midfielder was on the fringes of Farke’s team during the first half of the season but has been a key player since January, starting the last eight matches on the spin.

“It wasn’t always easy because at the beginning of the season, I started a few games but then went to the bench,” Trybull continued, speaking to City’s matchday programme.

“I was supporting the guys from the bench but as a player, you always want to play. It was not easy during this time but over the last couple of months, I’ve been really happy that I’ve been able to help the team with my performances.

“There were not so many reasons why the boss should change anything because it was working very well.

“I had to be patient and wait for my chance and that’s the thing I knew I had to do. I did that and when you continue to work hard in training, things always come back.”
