Shrewsbury are not interested in selling midfielder Jon Nolan in January, manager Paul Hurst has said following reported interest from Norwich City.

The 25-year-old has played an integral part in the Shrews’ impressive first half of the League One season, scoring five goals in 25 games, in tandem with Canaries loanee Ben Godfrey. That led to national newspaper The Sun claiming City are interested in the former Everton trainee.

“If we’re talking about someone that has scored five goals, he’s certainly one of the factors that has allowed a team that is expecting to be fighting relegation to be at the other end of the table,” Hurst said.

“I think everyone knows he’s a good player but we’ve no interest in losing him.”

Shrewsbury signed Nolan from Chesterfield – who would reportedly be due a 15pc sell-on fee – in the summer, with Hurst, speaking to the Shropshire Star, adding: “I think people are watching. I’m not going to deny that, but no-one’s said ‘we want to take him and we will offer you x-amount of pounds’.

“I’m not so sure anyone will get close to our valuation.”
