I was delighted to be able to sign Russell Martin and Anthony McNamee on a permanent basis at the start of this week.

I know from their time on loan with us that they are the right kind of lads to be part of our squad, on and off the field, and that is important.

Russell has done really, really well at right-back and has done a great job, just as I expected, knowing him very well from my time at Wycombe.

His performance last Saturday against his old club was truly outstanding and he was unlucky not to get his first goal for us.

Anthony has had to be patient during his loan spell because of the way the team has been performing, but he has pace and quality and there is no doubt he will be needed in the second half of the season because we will need everybody in the squad to play their part.

We will continue working hard to try to bring in further new signings during the transfer window. We are looking at players at the minute with that in mind.

Everyone has read the financial figures released by the club this week, but don't forget what we have at the moment - a really good side, playing at the top of their game and helping to create a vibrant atmosphere around the whole club.

t The winter weather has created havoc with the sporting programme across the country and we are not immune to the problems the snow has caused.

It had disrupted our training this week and the snow can be very damaging to your preparations.

We are fortunate that we have the dome at Colney and we have spent a lot of time in there, but not everybody can go in the hall.

If some of the players are carrying knocks or a bit of stiffness in the joints, then we cannot afford to risk them on a different surface. They can do a bit of jogging but if they do not want to take a chance on their fitness, I understand that. I am perfectly fine with that.

It's not ideal preparation for your next match but most teams have been in the same situation this week.

As we are on a winning run, we are keen to keep that run going. We want to maintain the momentum we have built up, so we don't want to lose any games to bad weather.

t PLAYERS DESERVE ALL THE CREDIT FOR TURNAROUND ON PITCH

I was struck once again by our incredible support at Wycombe last Saturday with more than 2,000 fans making a long trip and roaring us on to another away win.

The number of people who have taken up half-season tickets is also a huge boost to the club and to the players, who really appreciate the level of support and the atmosphere it generates.

Looking at the way the crowd is driving us on, the best compliment I can pay them is to say that even if Manchester United were playing at Carrow Road tomorrow, you wouldn't be able to find any more space in the stadium. It's already a packed house.

It's fantastic and the rapport the supporters have struck up with the players is tremendous. That is absolutely vital, too, if we are to give our fans the success they deserve.

Moving into second place in League One demonstrates that we have come a long way in a short space of time and our next task is to try to claw back the gap on the leaders, Leeds.

After a successful December, it was nice to be nominated for the Manager of the Month award, but there is no doubt in my mind that it is the team that deserves the award. At the end of the day they are the ones who go out and do it on the pitch, and they are the most important people at the club, along with the supporters, who together have been brilliant since we arrived here in August.

We have a group of lads who have taken us from one point to 48, from 22nd to second place. They are the ones who have achieved it and they deserve the credit.
