Daniel Farke warned Norwich City to get back to basics after a dire 4-1 Championship defeat at QPR on Easter Monday.

Farke was seething at the generosity shown by the Canaries, who took the lead at Loftus Road but then were over-powered by Ian Holloway's side.

'They played the long balls, we lost the duels and they scored from these situations,' he said.

'Perhaps the first half was too easy for us. I felt we deserved to be in the lead. But we forget what the basics are. That is to win the duels and we lost all the key ones.

'When you get the lead you have to be even more greedy and more aggressive. We seemed a bit too worried about good technical touches.

'The basics are the same now as 20 years ago and 20 years time.

'You don't have to speak about tactical movements or ability, it is about winning your duels first and we didn't do that.

'In football everything comes together.

'It is the first time in several months I have seen this face of my team. It can happen in football but I am totally annoyed we lost in this way.

'It was possible when we went in the lead to drive home with points. Now we have to show a reaction, especially in winning our duels.'

City's 4-1 pummelling capped a miserable Easter after a 2-0 home defeat to Fulham but Farke is adamant his players' attitude is not in question as the season threatens to tail off.

'No, the attitude is normally good. They are desperate to play,' he said. 'We had a tough game against Fulham but that is Championship life.

'Yes, with fewer injuries we can rotate more but that is not an excuse because in the first 35 minutes we had no problems and we were totally concentrated.'
