Jonny Howson is yet to attract a bid from boyhood club Leeds United, after the Norwich City midfielder was recently touted with a potential Elland Road return.
The Press Assocciation reported over the weekend Leeds have yet to decided whether to make a close season swoop for the Morley-born playmaker, after Team Talk claimed the Whites could test City’s resolve with a £4m move should a proposed takeover of the club goes through.
Co-owner Andrea Radrizzani is in the process of gaining full control and is likely to sanction a major summer spend to equip Leeds for a tilt at Championship promotion.
Howson still has two years left on his existing Carrow Road deal but new sporting director Stuart Webber has already made it clear City will have to sell players to attract reinforcements in the weeks ahead.
Premier League duo Brighton and Burnley are reportedly monitoring the 28-year-old’s situation, who made his 150th league apppearance for Norwich in the recent Championship campaign.
Meanwhile, Howson’s former Norwich City team mates John Ruddy and Michael Turner have been linked to relegated Premier League Sunderland. Both are free agents this summer, with the Wearsiders one of Turner’s old clubs, while Ruddy was the subject of a transfer enquiry from the Black Cats last summer.
David Moyes’ future at the Stadium of Light is expected to be resolved this week but highly-rated England Under-21 keeper Jordan Pickford is sure to attract interest. Sunderland must also slash the wage bill, with the Chronicle reporting there will be limited funds to overhaul the squad.
Ruddy reiterate at the weekend he sees his next career move back to the top flight.
