Norwich City duo Declan Rudd and Louis Thompson are being tracked by League One Charlton with the Addicks' keen on a loan swoop for the City pair.

Respected sports journalist Graeme Bailey has claimed on football website ‘Here is the City’ on Wednesday morning the duo are interesting new Charlton boss Russell Slade.

Former QPR and Sunderland defender Anton Ferdinand is believed to be training with the Addicks and Slade wants to bolster his squad to launch an immediate return to the Championship.

Rudd faces stiff competition from John Ruddy and Michael McGovern to force his way into the Canaries’ first team although Alex Neil has sanctioned the departure of Jake Kean this summer to Sheffield Wednesday, while Remi Matthews has joined his old club Hamilton on a season-long loan.

The 25-year-old academy product made 14 league and cup appearances last season but prior to that enjoyed a successful loan stint in League One at Preston, where he reached the play-offs.

Thompson has featured prominently during Norwich’s pre-season programme but has yet to make a senior league or cup appearance for the club he joined from Swindon Town in September 2014. The 21-year-old returned to the County Ground last season on loan but still has one year, plus an additional one-year optioin, left on his Carrow Road deal.
