Norwich City have made an enquiry for Rangers' young midfielder Jamie Barjonas.

Football web site, Here is the City, claim on Thursday afternoon City have made a bid for the 18-year-old, who made his first team debut at Ibrox last season.

Both clubs have spent the summer in discussions over a proposed transfer for Graham Dorrans, with Rangers yet to get anywhere near City’s valuation, but Norwich’s top brass is ready to test the Glasgow club’s resolve to keep Barjonas.

The Canaries’ sporting director Stuart Webber added Kieran Scott to his recruitment set-up in May, as a new head of domestic scouting, and Scott previously worked at Rangers under Mark Warburton.

Barjonas has been part of Rangers’ academy since he was nine and is a Scottish youth international. The Glaswegian signed a two-year professional contract in 2016 but is yet to agree a longer term Ibrox deal.

HITC report the Canaries hope to steal a march on suitors in England.
