Norwich City Top 100 appearances: Max Briggs (87)

170 appearances/2 goals
Max Briggs was working for an insurance company with no real ambition to be a professional footballer until he was spotted by Ron Ashman.
He went on to star for the Canaries as a winger before dropping deeper and carved out a reputation as a very consistent performer.
A local lad, who was born in Bramerton, he had a forceful running style, which wouldn’t go amiss down the flanks at Norwich City these days.
Only Dale Gordon has made more appearances as a Norfolk-born player (261).
However, his goal record demonstrates that he didn’t have much of an eye for goal.
Briggs’ first ever goal for the Canaries came against Oxford, who he would later join.
He helped City to their first promotion to the top flight in 1972 and did his bit to ensure they stayed there the following season.
