Norwich City top 100 appearances – Joe Mullett (41)
248 appearances, 5 goals
Left-back Mullett arrived in January 1959 after struggling to make the breakthrough at Birmingham City.
With strong legs as a fit young soldier, the defender had to be patient for his chance with the Canaries as a 22-year-old, as Archie Macauley’s side continued on their famous run to the FA Cup semi-finals.
Just three appearances in that season were followed by a single appearance in Division Three in 1959-60. The Birmingham-born full-back didn’t play at all the following season but 16 appearances in Division Two in 1961-62 got his career up and running.
He never looked back, with his accurate passing and powerful running making him popular with the fans, playing more than 30 games in each of the next five campaigns under Ron Ashman. Fell out of favour in 1967-68 though and left for King’s Lynn, going on to also play for Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth.
