Norwich City to play FK Dukla Prague and Rubin Kazan on Austrian pre-season tour

Norwich City will play FK Dukla Prague and Rubin Kazan on their two-date pre-season tour of Austria later this month.

The Canaries confirmed on Tuesday afternoon details of their training trip for a week-long stay in southern Austria as they step up preparations for the Championship opener against Blackburn on August 6.

Alex Neil’s squad face Czech side FK Dukla Prague on Wednesday, July 20 at Kumberg Stadium (6pm local time). before meeting Russian outfit Rubin Kazan on Saturday, July 23 at SV Stegersbach (1pm local time).

FK Dukla Prague finished 10th in the Czech top flight last season while two-time Russian champions Rubin Kazan also finished 10th in the Russian Premier League.

City’s development squad will also travel out to Austria, where Dmitri Halajko’s set-up will train and play two friendlies of their own. Halajko’s side will face Ferencvaros Under-21s on Tuesday, July 19 (4pm local time) in Pinkafeld before taking on FC Slovacko Under-21s at the same time and venue on Friday, July 22.

Upon returning from Austria, the Canaries’ senior squad host Coventry City at Carrow Road on Tuesday, July 26 (7:30pm) before rounding off their Championship preparations at home to Hannover 96 on Saturday, July 30 (3pm).

City’s pre-season build-up begins in earnest this week with a training camp at St George’s Park, before facing Walsall in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Saturday (1pm) and then a visit to Lowestoft Town on Tuesday, July 12 (7:30pm).

The following weekend they travel to Peterborough United for an 120-minute friendly (3pm), replicating the format used for their game against Cambridge United last year.
