This weekend’s Norwich City player watch followed the fortunes of Ibrahim Amadou, as the Sevilla loanee continued to cover at centre-back during a frustrating 2-0 Premier League defeat at Burnley.

2 - Important foot in to beat Burnley striker Chris Wood to a dropping long ball.

4 - Ashley Barnes stays down after taking Amadou's knee to his face, accidentally as he tries to clear. Clarets' forward's nose is pouring with blood and he's not at all happy. Amadou apologises as he gets treatment, which seems to be accepted.

7 - City react to Burnley closing down their short goal-kicks. Ben Godfrey drops deep to receive the ball from Tim Krul but Amadou waves him forward. The ball comes straight back though and Amadou eventually has to head away an Erik Pieters cross from the left and then Krul claims a Jeff Hendrick cross from the right.

10 - At the back post and marking James Tarkowski as the opener is scored, with no City defender appearing to be tracking Wood as the New Zealand international darts to the near post to nod in a fine corner from Ashley Westwood for 1-0.

11 - Plays a sharp pass into Todd Cantwell in midfield, who is chopped down by Tarkowski to win a free-kick.

12 - Alex Tettey combines with Amadou wide right but Dwight McNeil is tenacious and puts the ball out for a throw to keep City pinned into their half, and then does exactly the same again soon after.

14 - Poor pass is intercepted by Jack Cork in midfield and McNeil can catch Sam Byram out of position, Amadou moves wide but can't stop the cross coming in and Wood gets across Godfrey easily to poke in at the near post for 2-0.

28 - Gets a Pieters cross from the left clear and links well with Byram and Emi Buendia to get out of trouble.

30 - Gets up strongly to beat Barnes to a ball forward from Pieters, showing good determination.

33 - BOOKED - Slams into a late tackle on McNeil, to the right of the box.

36 - Good strength to hold off Wood from a clearance and calmly find Krul.

41 - Marco Stiepermann brings down Cork in midfield, Westwood floats the free-kick into the box and Amadou is there with a commanding header away.

53 - Good strength to beat Barnes to a long ball and decent control in a tight space to clear long.

56 - Amadou and Godfrey miss a long ball, Wood runs in behind them and Amadou bundles over the striker on the edge of the box. No second yellow thankfully but living dangerously.

59 - Heads a dangerous McNeil cross behind for a corner.

63 - Chipped pass to Byram is risky, but right-back just beats McNeil to the ball.

83 - Important header away of a Lennon cross from the right.

87 - Very lucky not to get his second yellow after chopping Jay Rodriguez down on halfway as he's caught the wrong side of a counter, referee just warns him again.

89 - Hendrick gets on to a long ball down the left, Amadou chases and eventually steps in to put the ball out of play, knowing he can't afford to concede a foul.

90+3 - Steps in front of Wood to knock a clearance out of play.

VERDICT: Poor pass led to the second goal and very fortunate to avoid getting a second yellow card to compound a difficult day. Plenty of decent work in the air but the damage was done in a chaotic opening 15 minutes when City's defence collectively weren't up to scratch. A brutal challenge for a new recruit adjusting to the demands of filling in at centre-back.

RATING: 6 out of 10
