Norwich City could have to wait weeks for a decision after the Football League yesterday concluded a tribunal over manager Paul Lambert's early season switch from Colchester.

Club officials were in London yesterday for the Football League Disciplinary Commission hearing into charges that Norwich breached the rules following Lambert's Carrow Road move along with members of his backroom team.

Colchester had originally pushed for a possible points deduction after dismissing Norwich's initial compensation offer as 'derisory'.

The Canaries' hierarchy have maintained throughout the saga they made a lawful approach for Lambert but talks between the clubs aimed at reaching a compensation settlement failed in February after public disagreements between the two

And yesterday the commission heard all the evidence they needed and will now take their time before reaching a verdict.

A Norwich City club spokesman last night said: 'Today's Football League Disciplinary Commission hearing regarding Paul Lambert's move from Colchester United to Norwich City has concluded.

'The Commission will now take some time to reach a verdict and will at that point communicate its decision to both clubs.

'This process could take a number of days or even weeks to complete and the club will not be commenting further until then.'

Since taking over at Carrow Road, Lambert has since guided the Canaries to the League One title and promotion back to the Championship at the first attempt.

Meanwhile, his old club's fading play-off push ended over the weekend with a 1-1 draw at home to relegation-threatened Tranmere Rovers.

Us' boss and former Norwich academy chief Aidy Boothroyd has now begun planning for another season in League One after Colchester's miserable record of one win in 12 league matches over the run-in saw them fall out of play-off contention.

'We have finished up short and there's no getting away from it,' Boothroyd said. 'We plan and build for next year and make some changes, because that's important.

'We will add to what we have got, because we have a lot of good things going on here, and build in pre-season.'
