Norwich City head coach Daniel Farke admits his side can approach this week's test of their Championship mettle with a little less pressure - but that won't stop the German trying to be 'greedy'.

Four league wins on the spin has catapulted the Canaries into the early play-off mix ahead of games against two of the promotion favourites in Derby County and Stoke City this week.

Not many would have predicted such a run of form from the way City started the season but Farke is keen for his side to keep their momentum going ahead of arguably two of the biggest tests this division has to offer.

'I think it was important because we know right now we face two favourites for promotion, with Derby away, who for me had an outstanding transfer summer,' said Farke. 'They signed so much quality, so for me Derby County are 100 percent one of the favourites for promotion – and Stoke quite obviously.

'So we know they will be really difficult tasks and for that it was quite important to have this win (against Wigan), another three points for our situation, to use this momentum and have this home win especially.

The victory over the Latics came despite some of City's young guns looking tired in a display which didn't quite hit the recent heights.

'They were not poor but this was what I meant when I said that, in general with the young lads, sometimes we have to be patient because, especially in the beginning, we were a bit nervous and not so focused,' Farke continued. 'So it was more that when the young lads are praised too much and everyone is speaking about that we can be there with a fifth win a row, then you are thinking a bit too much of what could happen after the game rather than being solid and concentrated on stuff you have to do.

'Especially for young lads this is sometimes difficult to do, to keep the nerves and be really focused. After that we fought back into the game and it was a well deserved win but it's also a good lesson you can learn, especially as a young player out of this game.

'And while you learn while you are winning – that's a perfect fit.'
