Player ratings for both Norwich City and Newcastle United following their Premier League clash.
• Norwich City
7 John Ruddy: Has to be the leading contender for player-of-the season. Two more great stops for the collection.
6 Kyle Naughton: Failed to cut out Jonas Gutierrez's cross for the goal. Suspect in the first period. Needed more support.
6 Elliott Ward: Skipper for the day. Had his hands full. Rocky early on but grew into the contest.
6 Zak Whitbread: Second best to Papiss Cisse on the goal. Came back strongly as the game wore on.
6 Adam Drury: In the wars at times. Took Hatem Ben Arfa back to school. Still going strong in final stages.
7 Elliott Bennett: Relished the match up with Gutierrez. Won that battle hands down. Great second half cross for Zak Whitbread.
7 David Fox: Really got Norwich on the front foot early in the second half. The key midfield performer at that stage.
6 Andrew Surman: Linked with Fox and Johnny Howson but only offered a fleeting threat on Newcastle goal.
6 Anthony Pilkington: Tested Krul in the first period. May feel he should have done better with angled strike in the second.
7 Jonny Howson: One fearsome strike over the bar in the first period. Looked bright and lively but faded a touch after the interval.
5 Steve Morison: Weak shot at Krul in the final stages typified his shift. Difficult role up top but has performed it much better.
Subs: Grant Holt (for Howson) 5, Wes Hoolahan (for Drury) 5, Russell Martin (for Pilkington) 5
• Newcastle United
7 Tim Krul: Sign of a quality keeper. Two key moments. Two excellent stops to foil Norwich inside a second half minute.
6 Danny Simpson: Solid and reliable. Offered little going forward.
6 Fabricio Coloccini: Far more reliable than centre back partner Mike Williamson. Nullified City at set pieces.
5 Mike Williamson: First half lapse in concentration typfied his afternoon. Not a fans' favourite it seems.
6 Jonas Gutierrez: Mixed bag from the Argentinian makeshift defender. Sublime at times in attack. Suspect in defence.
5 Hatem Ben Arfa: Anonymous. Poor follow up to his brilliant strike at Arsenal during the previous week.
6 Danny Guthrie: Steady presence but struggled when City put the extra man to better use.
6 James Perch: Combative in the early exchanges. Versatile member of Alan Pardew's squad after a defensive shift in Norfolk.
6 Yohan Cabaye: Played out of position. Never able to impose himself in the centre of the park. Visonary passer at his best.
7 Demba Ba: Just in one of those runs at present. Denied by John Ruddy's fingertips. Good battle with City's defence.
7 Papiss Cisse: Brilliant instinctive finish for the match-winner. But given time one-on-one with Ruddy he was found wanting.
Subs: Davide Santon (for Ben Arfa) 6, Shola Ameobi (for Cisse) 6, Dan Gosling (for Guthrie) 5
