Our latest Norwich City player watch followed midfielder Kenny McLean during Saturday’s impressive 1-1 draw at Leicester
1 - Tom Trybull is forced into a foul almost straight away as McLean can't control a pass on his chest. The Scot then helps Trybull win back possession before spreading the ball to Max Aarons on the right.
5 - Ben Godfrey finds Todd Cantwell in midfield, who hands over to McLean but pass to Sam Byram on the left wing rolls just out of play.
11 - McLean's cross from the left is headed behind by Jonny Evans for a corner, after good play from Emi Buendia. Youri Tielemans' nods on Buendia's corner and Alex Tettey's shot hits Ben Chilwell.
15 - Godfrey spreads a lovely long pass to Aarons on the right, who exchanges a sharp one-two with McLean, who uses his strength to hold off Chilwell and then passes on the turn, Aarons advances into the box and crosses to Teemu Pukki at the back post but Finn can only prod wide on the stretch.
18 - Turns into space but can't quite get the through-ball to Pukki, playing the it almost against the striker's heels.
26 - Challenges Evans in the air on halfway, defender only manages to chest down to Trybull, who finds Buendia and perfect through-ball sends Pukki clean through for City's goal.
38 - Christoph Zimmermann deflects Chilwell's cross behind, James Maddison delivers the corner from the left, Jamie Vardy gets up at the near post after losing McLean and heads across goal, with the ball going in off Tim Krul from point-blank range for an own goal.
43 - Gets up first to head Maddison's crossed free-kick away.
45+3 Barged over by Chilwell on the right wing, winning a throw.
45+4 - Nice ball forward to Pukki but striker opts to keep possession and City eventually go back to Krul.
45+5 - Fouls Maddison on halfway but springs up to prevent the quick free-kick.
47 - Tries a one-two on halfway with Pukki but Wilfred Ndidi is too strong for him.
51 - Good pressing from Buendia and Pukki forces Kasper Schmeichel into hurried kick which Evans can't keep in, but McLean's control let's him down from a Buendia throw.
56 - Buendia does well to nick the ball back on the edge of his own box and McLean dances out of trouble to keep possession calmly.
58 - Maddison delivers a corner, headed up and then Krul with a wayward punch, McLean and Buendia combine to get the ball away, but can't find Pukki on the left.
62 - Can't win a long ball forward from Zimmmermann in the air.
65 - Wasteful as Byram's nice chipped pass allows him to attack but then runs into Evans rather than free Pukki running alongside him.
69 - Buendia curls a corner towards near post from the right, McLean crowded out and can't make clean contact with his head.
71 - Maddison corner comes in, Zimmermann clears upwards, clash of feet with Caglar Soyuncu in mid-air, seems both as bad as each other, VAR clears penalty check. But just after McLean had inexplicably been robbed by Vardy in the box instead of clearing his lines, Vardy hits shot on the turn and Krul is down well to make sure it doesn't sneak in.
77 - Nice attack from City, Buendia spreads to Aarons, eventually McLean swings in a cross from the right but cleared easily enough.
86 - Lovely back-heel in mid-air to find Onel Hernandez but throw is given as had just gone out of play. Drops deeper as Marco Stiepermann comes on for Trybull.
90 - Gets up well to beat Demarai Gray to a goal-kick from Schmeichel in the air. Soon after a lovely long pass from a free-kick on halfway, Aarons controls but eventually attack breaks down.
90+2 - Maddison puts in corner for Leicester, McLean heads to edge of the box and Harvey Barnes drifts a low shot well wide.
VERDICT: Mixed performance, during another opportunity in the attacking central midfield role. Plenty of hard work and important defensive pressing but limited success in his creative attempts and culpable for the equaliser. Overall played his part in a very positive team performance though.
RATING: 7 out of 10
