Fit-again defender Christoph Zimmermann was the focus of our latest Norwich City player watch, as the centre-back made an impressive return to Premier League action during a very welcome 2-0 win at Everton.

1 - Flicks at a clearance, with Theo Walcott sniffing, but City scramble away.

7 - Lovely long ball to Onel Hernandez on the left but crowded out. Soon after Zimmermann tries it again, gets Sam Byram in behind the home defence but touch is just too heavy and Pickford can claim.

10 - Bellows at his defence to step up, quickly settling back into his leadership role.

23 - BOOKED - Hauls back Richarlison, had to do it, takes one for the team and for Todd Cantwell in particular, who loses the ball cheaply with Max Aarons charging forward in support.

Lucas Digne swings in the free-kick from City's right but Cenk Tosun guides a header wide.

24 - Another lovely long pass, Hernandez crosses from the left and Mason Holgate has to head behind for a City corner.

30 - Gets the ball back to Tim Krul under pressure from Richarlison and stays calm as the same happens after Krul plays back to him.

44 - Calmly chests a Holgate clearance down toAlex Tettey near halfway.

45 - Tries another long ball to Hernandez on the right, Sidibe makes a mess of it and winger attacks, Byram's shot is deflected behind.

49 - Picks up loose ball after Tom Trybull's battling, calmly moves into space and plays a sensible pass to Teemu Pukki.

51 - Cantwell gets unlucky with a first diving tackle to try and stop Digne, ball comes back to the left and Cantwell is chasing shadows, but Ben Godfrey with a fine interception to get the ball behind - earning a big bear hug from Zimmermann.

52 - German heads away the initial corner but pressure is still on and Godfrey with another superb block behind for a corner.

55 - CITY GOAL - Canaries take the lead, with the move triggered by Zimmermann's long pass forward, Kenny McLean heads down to Pukki, who prods through to Cantwell at second attempt and midfielder calmly tucks the ball into the bottom-right past Pickford.

58 - Twice helps end the danger from Richarlison in his box, Alex Tettey disrupting the Brazilian second time around.

64 - Digne tosses a long throw into the box, Zimmermann heads away.

72 - No nonsense, hoofs a clearance long to Pickford from halfway under pressure.

73 - Max Aarons does well to stick with a twisting and turning Richarlison, again Zimmermann no nonsense long clearance hoofed away.

90 - Barged over by Tosun as he rose to head clear, free-kick given.

VERDICT: An imperious return to action for a genuine leader of this squad, having such a calming effect on those around him and contributing to a much better balance. Played a part in the goal and displayed his passing range throughout, having a hugely important influence overall. The big hugs received from his team-mates at full-time and the response of the away fans as he went over to applaud them summed up how much everyone appreciated having him back.
