Norwich City striker Carlton Morris has signed a contract extension and joined League One side Rotherham on a season-long loan.
The 23-year-old spent 2017-18 on loan in the third tier with Shrewsbury Town but this season was ruined by injury, following on from knee ligament damage suffered as the Shrews were beaten in the play-off final at Wembley in May 2018.
Morris was part of the Canaries' 2013 FA Youth Cup winning squad but has still only made one appearance for the club, coming on as a late substitute during a 1-0 home loss to Wigan in the Championship under Alex Neil in March 2015.
Originally from Cambridge, Morris has been with Norwich since he was 11 years old. He has extended his contract by a further year, until 2021.
"I'm very grateful to Norwich for extending my contract," Morris said. "I've always wanted to get my chance to play for the team but unfortunately last season with my injury, it prevented me from showing what I'm capable of.
"However, they've shown they believe in me and have given me a great opportunity to show what I can do.
"I'm extremely proud of boys this season, seeing them do so well really helped to motivate me when there were points in the season where I was struggling due to injury but the lads have just been brilliant and I'm so pleased for them."
Morris returned to under-23 action in January after his knee injury but was forced off with an ankle injury before half-time of a 1-1 draw with Leicester U23s at Colney.
He returned in April and played the final three games of the season with the development squad but will look to get back to regular action with the Millers next season, having scored 10 goals in 53 games for Shrewsbury in all competitions during his previous loan.
It will be his second spell with the South Yorkshire club, managed by Norfolk native Paul Warne, who have just been relegated back to League One after one campaign back in the Championship.
Morris made eight Championship appearances for Rotherham during the latter stages of the 2016-17 season, following on from loans with Hamilton, Oxford and York.
"It's a great opportunity for me and I'm just really looking forward to getting started," Morris continued, speaking to City's official website.
"I really enjoyed my time there in 2017 and it's a great club. I get on with the manager (Warne) really well and I know most of the lads so have already built those great relationships.
"They are such a talented group so I'm craving to get minutes on the pitch to help them as much as I can. I'm quite versatile and hope to create a positive impact all-round, especially on the offensive side of things and to show my work rate.
"League One is very competitive and the sky will be the limit for us so I just can't wait to get started."
Rotherham boss Warne told his club's website: "It's a win-win for me. I really like him as a kid, he's got the perfect character for us and he's worked for us before. He knows the club and I've been in contact with him ever since that first loan spell finished.
"He plays off-the-shoulder, he's nice and quick but big and strong. He has a great work ethic and he is exactly the sort of striker that thrives at this club so he'll join a pretty impressive front line and we'll be looking to add another one there as well.
"He definitely knows what it means to look after himself. He's a really unselfish player, not dissimilar to Smudge (Michael Smith) in that respect but he can play up front on his own, or up there in a two or three.
"He's a left-footer and he brings us another element. He is someone who will just work, run and want to improve and they are the players that we want here."
