Steve Morison was set to arrive at Carrow Road today – poised to become Norwich City boss Paul Lambert's second new striker in the space of the week.

Millwall accepted the Canaries' fourth bid for the Wales international and gave him permission to discuss personal terms with the club.

The deal, confirmed by both clubs, came after a day of claim and counter-claim over whether City's latest offer had been accepted.

The 27-year-old Morison was finally reported to be on his way to Norwich for talks and a medical after a fee was agreed, believed to be an initial 2.1m plus up to 700,000 in future add-ons.

Millwall chief executive Andy Ambler said: 'We have allowed Steve to talk to a Premier League club having negotiated a deal that has matched our valuation. It is now for Norwich and Steve to agree terms.'

A third of the transfer fee is due to Stevenage, from whom the Lions bought Morison in 2009 for 130,000, though Millwall were reported to be attempting to negotiate a reduction on the 33 per cent sell-on clause. Reports early yesterday that City's bid had been accepted were denied by Millwall at lunchtime, but they later confirmed the two clubs had agreed a fee.

Enfield-born Morison, an international team-mate of City midfielder Andrew Crofts, has been capped seven times by Wales.

He began his career with Northampton, later moving to Bishop's Stortford and Stevenage, and has scored 40 goals in 95 senior games for Millwall.

Lambert has already recruited one new striker for the Premier League campaign after last week's arrival of James Vaughan from Everton for a fee of at least 1.5m.

City were linked again this week with Peterborough striker Craig Mackaail-Smith, Posh confirming they had accepted one offer from a Premier League club, but QPR, Everton and Wigan were all reported to be chasing the Scotland international.
