Remi Matthews had an afternoon to forget as Hamilton were hit for six at Ibrox by Rangers, who reached the Scottish Cup semi-finals. Joe Garner scored a second-half hat-trick for Graeme Murty’s side.

Carlton Morris continues to wait for his first team sheet inclusion at Rotherham, while Harry Toffolo missed out again as Scunthorpe United suffered a major blow to their bid for automatic promotion from League One.

The Iron were knocked down to third by Fleetwood, who won 2-0 at Glanford Park. Toffolo hasn’t played for Graham Alexander since he was sent off in the draw at leaders Sheffield United.

Declan Rudd played the full 90 minutes as Charlton slipped to defeat at Northampton, and duly behind the Cobblers in the third tier table.

Ray Grant played the final four minutes as Dagenham & Redbridge dropped to fourth in the National League standings, as they lost 1-0 at Gateshead.
