Moritz Leitner has thanked Norwich City fans for their show of support following a first defeat in nine games.

The Canaries were beaten 1-0 by Stoke at Carrow Road on Saturday despite dominating the game, thanks to an unfortunate Timm Klose own goal in the first half, and the German midfielder was still feeling positive in the aftermath of the result.

'I'm very proud of you lads and the whole club!' said Leitner, posting on his Instagram account with a photo of the team huddle ahead of kick-off against the Potters.

'Yes, we lost 1-0 against Stoke, but the way how we play, how we fight and invest for each other is outstanding.

'The commitment, the togetherness and the support after the game from the whole stadium, the whole Canaries family was fantastic. Thank you for that and let's keep going.

'Of course I am very disappointed about the result, because we deserved more but we will fight for the points again!'

Klose was also among the Canaries players on Instagram after the game, explaining why he didn't embark on his usual lap of appreciation around Carrow Road at full-time.

'Thank you again for your great support,' the Switzerland international defender wrote. 'Sorry for not making my round after the game, you can imagine why.

'Played some great football today, it wasn't meant to be. We take that break now to recover and then we go again.'
