Experienced goalkeeper Paul Jones has joined League One side Fleetwood Town following his Norwich City release.

The Canaries signed the former Exeter and Crawley keeper as cover for Michael McGovern and John Ruddy two years ago but Jones made just one appearance.

That came in a 6-1 League Cup victory over Coventry at Carrow Road shortly after signing his two-year deal and was named on the bench as cover for eight games during his first season.

He was not involved at all under Daniel Farke during the first half of last season and was loaned to Exeter for the remainder of his contract, also having to make do with a place on the bench during his entire spell with the League Two club.

The 32-year-old has now signed a one-year deal with Fleetwood though, becoming new manager Joey Barton's 10th summer signing after a successful trial with the Lancashire club, where he will compete with Alex Cairns and Matt Urwin for the gloves.
