And so there's just one more day left in the term.

It feels a bit like those days at school when we were allowed to take Ker Plunk, Frustration and Operation into the class rather than doing trigonometry and lighting bunsen burners.

Of course there's the little matter of East Anglian bragging rights at stake on Sunday.

A good result at Hillsborough to ensure finishing above the Tractor Boys would be a significant consolation at the end of a generally very disappointing year at Carrow Road.

There's little doubt, however, the season's finale after the excitement of Wes Day does seem like playing rounders on the field.

So continuing the school theme, I'm taking on the role of teacher and delivering my report on the City Class of 2017/18. The overall verdict has to be 'could do much better...'

Daniel Farke – grade: 6/10

We're told his project is a work in progress and we're asked for patience. He has a crucial summer holiday to do more rebuilding on his squad. Next term I want more positivity, boldness and tempo.

Angus Gunn 7.5

Rightly got third place in the player of the season contest. The 'we've got Angus/he's one of our own' chants in his honour at Carrow Road on Saturday showed how much he means to the Canary faithful. The lad has a great future - we must dream that at least the next chapter of that is in NR1.

Ivo Pinto 6

Deserves credit for taking on the captain's armband and his passion and energy make him a fans' favourite. Lacks consistency and has become the second best right back behind Harrison Reed.

Christoph Zimmermann 6.5

Has a never-say-die attitude and displays the character that is so important in this league. THAT header on the ground at Wolves was one of my favourite moments of the season.

Timm Klose 6.5

It's been a tough season for Timm and all his defensive colleagues. He seems keen to stay and that will be a big boost for the City faithful.

Grant Hanley 8

Proper defender with an 80pc success rate in tackles and 68.1pc in aerial duels. Make him skipper for next season and build the backline around him.

Jamal Lewis 7

One of City's most exciting prospects and has shown maturity beyond his years to cement his place as first choice left back.

Harrison Reed 7

My fingers are crossed that Southampton stay up, which could mean he remains with us for another year. Tenacious, tireless and talented.

Mario Vrancic 6.5

I've taken time to warm to Mario but he is clearly a genuine talent with a killer pass in his locker.

Moritz Leitner 6.5

Classy addition to the heart of the team who has given us glimpses of what he can produce. Snapping him up on a permanent deal would be a great coup.

Josh Murphy 6.5

Fans have started saying he's had a 'Josh day' which is shorthand for brilliant, frustrating, confident and nervous all in one afternoon. Seven goals is no mean feat - but they come from 86 shots (a third of the strike rate of Madders).

Wes Hoolahan 7

What more can be said about the wizard? An 80pc success rate for passes shows he has remained top quality to the end. I should give him a 10 or 14 really...

Tom Trybull 6.5

Injury has robbed us of a potentially big impact from him. His success rate for passes is 87pc and he averages 58 passes a game. If he can stay fit, he could be a star for 2018/19.

James Maddison 9

Whatever happens to him now, we have been honoured to have seen such a fabulous player in a City shirt. He simply loves playing football and will wear an England first team shirt one day.

Onel Hernandez 6.5

Great promise and he has the exciting burst of pace which we are crying out for.

Alex Tettey 6.5

I'm really pleased he's staying for another season. His experience will be vital as the overhaul continues.

*Nelson Oliveira 5.5

I expect him to be off after a topsy turvy season. Undoubted talent but the end result hasn't been good enough.

Marley Watkins 5

No goals in 1214 minutes tells its own story.

Dennis Srbeny 5.5

I so want him to succeed but we have to sign someone more prolific.

So it only leaves me to wish you all a very happy summer and let's get that World Cup out of the way so we can get stuck into the 2018/19 Championship season.

Club got it spot on

I had promised myself I wasn't going to write much about Wes in my column this week.

If I had a quid for every word penned about the little Irish magician over the past few days, I could have raised enough to buy Messi, Ronaldo and Kane to try to make up for losing him.

But despite all the coverage on his departure, I just had to have one more say.

In my four decades of following the Canaries, I have never seen a send off like it - and that's bearing in mind that the likes of Keelan, Forbes, Malky and Iwan have left in that time.

Everything went perfectly and if someone had beforehand written the script for the way the day panned out, they would have been laughed at.

The club has rightly come under fire in the past for not giving some legends the recognition they have deserved.

On this occasion they got it exactly right in every way and I'm sure that will continue with his testimonial.

Perfect loan spell for Todd

I get the feeling Todd Cantwell quite enjoyed his loan spell with Fortuna Sittard!

There were quite a few raised eyebrows when the Dereham youngster went on loan to the Dutch club.

Surely it would have been better for the lad to have gone out to a Lincoln or a Peterborough or a Shrewsbury? He would have got some good experience while his parent club could have kept a close eye on his progress.

Well, the team went undefeated in every game he started and they gained promotion to the Eredivisie for the first time in 16 years.

Todd has made his feelings about his spell very clear in some tweets this week.

'This is goodbye and my last game at this amazing club! For now (smiley face) #TC36 #NeverForget.

'I can't put into words how much this club believed in me and they have a place in my heart.'

It has been the best possible example of how a loan deal works well – and he will come back buzzing for success at City.
