Tom Trybull is out of the midweek Championship trip to Nottingham Forest with a back injury.

Daniel Farke confirmed on Monday afternoon the German had suffered the problem with his lower back in the second half of Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Barnsley.

Trybull could be out for upto 10 days to add to a growing list of midfield absentees that includes Alex Pritchard, Alex Tettey and Steven Naismith. The Scottish international has not recovered from his ankle problems and will not be risked at the City Ground. Louis Thompson and Matt Jarvis are longer term injury absentees.

Farke confirmed Pritchard, along with Russell Martin, had travelled with the development for Monday’s U23s game against Wolves. Todd Cantwell will not feature on Monday night as he has been drafted into the senior squad.

“Tom Trybull is not available,” said Farke. “He got several hits in his back against Barnsley and he has a strain. The doctor says he’ll probably be out for seven to 10 days.

“We’ll probably have to do without him for the next two games, although there’s a very small possibility he might be available for Preston on Saturday. much space. It wasn’t generally a problem defensively, our passing was really poor even though we had many technical and quality players on the pitch.

“Alex Pritchard is burning to play and wants to step on the pitch. He looks good in training, but it’s early days so we have to handle him well and he will get minutes with the under-23s.

“The temptation is big to bring him back in – he’s a key player for our offence and one of the best players in the Championship.

“He can make a difference in games with his creativity, and he’s full of ability and he brings goals and assists. But I have to be patient and we have to be careful with his load, because we want to bring him in when he’s 100pc. Anything less than that won’t help him and it won’t help us and we want to make sure we don’t risk injuring him again by playing him when he’s not 100pc.”

James Husband is suspended for the trip to the East Midlands but the left back has also picked up a groin injury that will rule him out for a fortnight.

City head to Nottingham Forest looking to bring an end to a run of four league games without a win.

Saturday’s point may have been frustrating, as it stretched a winless streak at Carrow Road to six matches, but favourable results meant the Canaries moved up to 12th and a point closer to the play-off places – three points adrift of Middlesbrough after their 2-1 loss at Leeds on Sunday.

Forest are a point and a place higher in the table following a 1-0 loss at lowly Birmingham City on Saturday, as their inconsistent season under Mark Warburton continued, losing eight and winning five of their last 13 league games.

Norwich have a good record against Forest in recent years as well, winning 2-1 away and 5-1 at home last season to make it four wins from the last five meetings between the clubs.
