Norwich City will face Southampton or Tottenham Hotspur away in the FA Cup fifth round.

City will find out their opponents following the replay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday 5 February.

The draw was completed live on BBC One on Monday evening, with former FA Cup winners Teddy Sheringham and Glen Johnson conducting the draw. £360,000 of prize money is up for grabs should City progress into the next round.

Sheringham scored in Manchester United's FA Cup final win over Newcastle United in 1999, while Johnson was an FA Cup winner with Portsmouth in 2008.

In a change to the usual format in order to facilitate the Premier League's new winter break, ties will be played in the midweek of the week beginning Monday, March 2. That arrangement was agreed between the Premier League, the EFL and the FA back in 2018.

That will fall between league games against Leicester City on Friday, February 28 and a trip to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United on Saturday, March 7.

The Canaries encounter against Brendan Rodgers high-flying Foxes could be postponed should they reach the final of the League Cup. They face Aston Villa in the second-leg of the semi-final on Tuesday evening, with the aggregate score currently 1-1.

Concerns about fixture congestion created by replays have been taken into consideration also, with the FA deciding to scrap them from the fifth round onwards. If the tie is level after 90 minutes there will be 30 minutes of extra time and, if necessary, penalties to determine a winner on the night.

City sealed their place in the fifth round for the first time in eight years after beating Burnley 2-1 at Turf Moor on Saturday. Goals from ex-Blackburn Rovers defender Grant Hanley and full-debutant Josip Drmic booked City's place in the next round.

Southampton and Tottenham drew 1-1 at St Mary's on Saturday, with Sofiane Boufal's late equaliser for the Saints forcing a replay, as his goal cancelled out Son Heung-Min's opener. The Canaries last faced Spurs in the competition back in 1993, where a Sheringham brace knocked them out of the cup.

City's 2-2 draw with Southampton in 2017 forced a replay back to St Mary's, where a late Shane Long winner ensured Claude Puel's men progressed to the quarter-finals.

The last time City reached this stage of the competition was in 2012, when Paul Lambert's side team slipped to a 2-1 home shock to Leicester when the Foxes were in the Championship and City were on course to finish in mid-table in the Premier League.

Prior to that defeat, City faced Chelsea at this stage in 2007 and lost 4-0. Didier Drogba and Shaun Wright-Phillips were among the goals at Stamford Bridge.
