A former Norwich City player who was on loan at Turkish side Caykur Rizespor during the Canaries’ promotion season in 2015 has denied selling his medal to an eBay dealer.
A bidding war for the medal, from the victory against Middlesbrough at Wembley Stadium, reached more than £450 before Kyle Lafferty, who is now at Rangers, denied claims it was his.
He replied to a fan on Twitter saying: “Hi I’m sorry but this is not my medal.”
He said to another fan: “Don’t know how my name is mentioned in this but I’ve still got my medal and will always keep it with the rest of my medals.
“Whoever is selling it please report them or forward me their details.”
The medal was added to eBay by kitroom-memoribillia who claimed to have bought the medal and some shirts directly from Mr Lafferty.
Since Lafferty, who made 31 appearances for Norwich City, said the medal wasn’t his the item has been removed from eBay and the company’s website taken down.
