The Canaries were set to make at least one enforced change from the squad on duty at Portsmouth five days ago as they prepared to wrap up their Championship season at home to Coventry City today (12.45pm).

Defender Rob Edwards, who made three appearances as a substitute for the Canaries after arriving in February, has been recalled by Premier League strugglers Blackpool from his loan spell at Carrow Road, ruling him out of the grand finale to the promotion season.

'Rob's got to go back to Blackpool, which is a blow but he's their player. They've recalled him. But when he was here he was fantastic for us,' said manager Paul Lambert, who nevertheless still has the option of playing his two remaining loanees, Arsenal's Henri Lansbury and Liverpool's Dani Pacheco, if he feels like resting a few tired legs – and sore heads.

'I roughly know the team that will play and I'm pretty sure if they've got knocks, they won't want to show it. I'm pretty sure they'll all want to play,' said Lambert.

'It's the last game for the loan lads as well, and you've got to thank them for what they've done because they've bought right into it. You wouldn't think they were loans, those lads. You'd think they're your own.'

Queens Park Rangers were set to receive the Championship trophy at their final home match against Leeds today, regardless of the outcome of their FA hearing into alleged transfer irregularities, which appears to reduce any likelihood of City still having the title to play for.

Lambert was philosophical about the Rangers saga, saying: 'We've done what we've set out to do. As I said the other night, it's a miracle. We can't influence what happens with QPR. What's the point of worrying about it?

'It would have been great to win another league. It might still happen, it might not.'

He said today's final home match would be one big celebration whatever the result after the 'astronomical achievement' of reaching the Premier League.

'It could be 46-nothing to Coventry. I'm not going to let it blight it. They've been partying for God knows how long and I would do the same if I could still play the game,' he said.

'They deserve the party they're going to have, along with the fans. I'm pretty sure it will be absolutely brilliant for them. I think it will be a great occasion, whatever happens.'
