Sergi Canos admits if he wanted an easy life he would not have signed up for Norwich City's Championship crusade.
The 19-year-old starlet is backing himself to play a massive part in Alex Neil’s plans, after rejecting a new deal to stay at Liverpool and snubbing interest from City’s rivals.
Canos made his Carrow Road bow in the midweek 3-0 friendly win over Coventry City and could feature in Saturday’s summer finale against Hannover 96.
Canos is not afraid of the challenge ahead having left Barcelona’s academy as a 16-year-old to forge a new life on Merseyside and then experiencing a culture shock last season on-loan at Brentford.
“I want to make my career in England,” he said. “The easiest thing would have been to not sign a contract at Liverpool and go back to Spain but I don’t like the easy things. Every player is different. Some prefer to play in Spain, I am not saying the football is better or worse but it is a different type of football.
“The Championship is very tough, so many games. The teams are very physical and the league long. You have to be prepared. I went to Brentford as a boy and I am not saying I am a man now but my confidence is high.
“At the beginning it was difficult for me because I came from an under-21 level and the change is quite big but you get used to the level. Last year at Brentford we had good and bad runs but if everyone believes that is the most important. If things go wrong or go bad we have to still keep that belief.”
