Norwich City loanee Sean Raggett has missed out on a chance to play at Wembley after Portsmouth were edged out of the League One play-offs on penalties by Oxford.
The Canaries defender played the full 120 minutes at the Kassam Stadium on Monday evening, as the semi-final tie finished 2-2 on aggregate after another 1-1 draw.
Pompey took the lead in the 38th minute through Marcus Harness only for a corner from ex-Norwich loanee James Henry to cause problems just before half-time, being turned in to his own net by Ellis Harrison.
Raggett made an important block during extra-time but the tie went to penalties and it was former Norwich academy midfielder Cameron McGeehan - who captained City’s U18s to their FA Youth Cup triumph in 2013 - who saw the crucial spot-kick saved.
Former Lincoln centre-back Raggett’s future remains unclear as he was due to be out of contract at Norwich at the end of June but with the option for a further year available his loan was extended. The 26-year-old made 38 appearances for Pompey.
