Aidy Boothroyd believes Norwich City's Premier League promotion is good news for the England Under-21 talent pool after fast-tracking Todd Cantwell, Ben Godfrey and Max Aarons into his set-up.

Boothroyd's side launch their Euro 2021 qualifying campaign against Turkey in Istanbul on Friday, and return to the UK to face Kosovo at Hull's KCOM Stadium on Monday.

The Canaries' trio have featured in all of Norwich's Premier League games this season, after the club's successful promotion campaign, and Boothroyd believes the Young Lions can benefit from their regular top-flight game time.

"Usually (players) have come through the system and either not played at first-team level or are getting quite close to that, going out on loans," he said.

"But then you've got the players that are playing regularly, and a lot of the time the players who are playing regularly are the ones who are going to be in rhythm, and the ones who will be playing because they can go and play 90 minutes and their touch is right.

"It's not like that first or second game in pre-season where the touch is not quite right. So the clubs really pick our players, in some instances.

"Todd is an example of that, of a player who is playing in the Premier League, and the same with Max and Ben.

"All three are doing really, really well, so they are going to get seen in more games and surprise, surprise they get in the Under-21s."

Teenage Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood has also been called into Boothroyd's squad for the first time, after emerging at Old Trafford this season.

"Then there's the other guys who have shown bits of brilliance in the younger age groups, or people like Mason, who is coming into the Under-21s three years young, who is another talent who is getting 10 minutes here and there for United," added Boothroyd.
