James Maddison remains a prime transfer target for Tottenham, with Mauricio Pochettino ready to step up his interest in the Canaries' player-of-the-year.
Spurs have been heavily linked to Aston Villa’s England Under-21 midfielder Jack Grealish in recent days, with the north London club looking to take advantage of major financial issues at Villa Park.
The Sun report on Wednesday Spurs’ chairman Daniel Levy has tabled a £15m take-it-or-leave-it offer for Grealish, but will turn his attentions to Maddison if Villa reject the Champions League hopefuls’ overtures.
Maddison was tracked by Tottenham prior to opting for Norwich when he left Coventry City back in 2016. Liverpool and Manchester City have also been touted as potential destinations for one of the best English talents outside the Premier League.
Leicester City and Everton are reportedly in pole position, with speculation the Toffees’ will launch an £18m move once Wayne Rooney completes his switch to the MLS.
Norwich’s top brass were determined to hold onto Maddison in the January window, despite fevered speculation over his future, but City must listen to offers for their prized asset to help address the shortfall following the end of Premier League parachute payments.
Josh Murphy completed his move to Cardiff City on Tuesday but further departures are inevitable to lower the wage bill and bring in a transfer surplus at Carrow Road this summer.
