Borussia Mönchengladbach forward Josip Drmic is a player who interests Norwich City.

German sports tabloid, Bild, report on Wednesday the Canaries could make a move for the Swiss international, who is out of contract next month and set to leave the Bundesliga club.

The 26-year-old suffered an injury-hit campaign at club level for Mönchengladbach, who finished an impressive fifth in the league, but did feature in both his country's Nations League games last week against Portugal and England.

Drmic's penalty was saved by England's Jordan Pickford in the spot kick shoot out that sealed the Three Lions' third place finish after the sides had finished 0-0 after extra-time.

Drmic, an international team mate of Timm Klose, notched two goals in five late season Bundesliga appearances for Borussia but was behind Thorgen Hazard and Alassane Plea in the pecking order after back and muscle problems.

The pacy centre forward has failed to establish himself as a frontline option at Borussia, since arriving from Leverkusen for a reported 10m EURO in 2015, but was touted with a Premier League move last summer. Burnley, Bournemouth and Watford were all linked with the striker.

City have made no secret they will target a frontman now the overseas transfer window is open for business to ease the burden on player-of-the-year Teemu Pukki, and Bild claim Daniel Farke is keeping tabs on Drmic.

LIKELIHOOD: Ticks a lot of boxes. Financially, a free agent who has operated at Bundesliga level and is a regular for his country at international level. In other words, the same recruitment template that saw City move for an unheralded Finnish international this time last summer who has just finished the campaign with 36 goals for club and country.

Sporting director Stuart Webber indicated recently the numbers do not add up to engineer a return to Carrow Road for Jordan Rhodes. Drmic looks an attractive option from that aspect alone, and Farke will know what he is capable of from his time in Germany. But Drmic is unlikely to be short of offers with his pedigree.
