Norwich City transfer rumours: Paraguayan striker 'followed' by Canaries

Paraguayan title winner Brian Montenegro is being touted with a January move to the Premier League, with City and Brighton reportedly keeping tabs.
Montenegro had two previous spells in England at West Ham and Leeds earlier in his career and respected Italian football site, TuttoMercatoWeb, claim the top flight duo, along with Serie A strugglers Brescia and SPAL, have looked at the 26-year-old.
The frontman played a key role in Olimpia Asunçion winning the Paraguayan domestic league with 10 goals and seven assists in 28 matches. He also featured in the prestigious Copa Libertadores competition for Olimpia this year.
Veteran former Bayern Munich and Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz has spearheaded Olimpia's title charge with 23 goals, but Montenegro is the club's third top scorer this season.
Montenegro has dual Paraguayan and Italian citizenship, which reportedly would simplify the process of bringing the striker back to Europe.
Teemu Pukki notched his eighth of the Premier League season for Norwich City in Wednesday's 2-1 Premier League loss to Southampton. But Josip Drmic is expected to be out until January with a hamstring problem.
Dennis Srbeny and Adam Idah are unproven at the highest level - although Srbeny notched his first Premier League goal at Everton recently - with Idah potentially lined up for a loan stint in the second part of the season.
Montenegro is reportedly under contract with Asunçion until 2021 but would not command anywhere near the fees involved in attracting attacking talent from England, or the top leagues across Europe, in next month's transfer trading.
