Timm Klose could be sidelined for between four to 12 months with a knee injury while fellow Norwich City defender Grant Hanley will miss Saturday’s Premier League test at West Ham with a groin issue.

Daniel Farke revealed on Friday lunchtime the Scottish international was the latest injury absentee, after over-stretching in training on Friday morning. Hanley will now have scans later in the day, but the head coach already expects him to miss out on Scotland's upcoming Euro2020 qualifiers as well as the trip to the London Stadium.

Klose will discover the extent of his layoff next week when he undergoes further scans, but Farke confirmed at Colney he had suffered a major knee injury in the midweek Carabao Cup exit at Crawley.

"What we can confirm is his PCL is ruptured," said Farke. "That probably means he will need a surgery of the ligaments. It is a bit difficult to judge how long he will be out.

"We have to re-scan Timm again when the swelling goes down next week. We are a bit scared there is something more with the knee in terms of the meniscus. The best case scenario he will be out for four months.

"If there is nothing with the meniscus and the PCL just has to heal that would still be January/February.

"But there is also a danger there is something with the meniscus and we can't have the surgery for the PCL until that is fixed. The doctors then say the worst case scenario is nine to 12 months. We are still hoping for the best. If we are realistic we have to say his season is probably over but we await the final outcome. He has to see two more consultants.

"Even the best case needs surgery. The doctor said the ligament is 85pc damaged. But because it is a crucial injury and this is Timm's career we want a second and third opinion. Timm is an unbelievably brilliant lad so it is a big blow for us and him.

"Grant is out for this weekend. He injured himself in our last session on Friday over-stretching his groin. A scan is needed. We hope it is not too bad but he had to cut short his training session. He will definitely be out for tomorrow.

"I don't think it is possible (he can join up with Scotland). He was not able to run. Let's wait what the scans say. That would be difficult for him as it as his first call up for a while and despite the unlucky own goal in the first game it was a reward for how he had come back."

Christoph Zimmermann is available for this weekend after his second half injury exit at Crawley, while Alex Tettey and Josip are also back in the mix.

"Christoph is available," said Farke.

"So that is good news. He got a hit against his back and felt his hip. For one or two days he felt a bit sore but he was back on the training pitch on Friday.

"Alex is available and will travel and also Josip. He was back training since Wednesday. Ok, he is not 100pc but it is good to have a player of his quality and self-confidence in our group.

"After the international break he will be fully fit but still a good option for West Ham. He has trained the last three days."
