City confirmed the deal on Monday afternoon, with McLean joining for an undisclosed fee - reportedly £200,000 - after signing a three-and-a-half-year-deal.

The 26-year-old, however, will spend the rest of the current campaign back at Pittodrie before linking up with Daniel Farke's squad in the summer.

McLean becomes the second signing of the January transfer window, following the arrival of Tottenham starlet Marcus Edwards on loan until the end of the season.

The attacking midfielder made a flying visit to Norfolk on Sunday to undergo a medical and finalise personal terms. Former club St Mirren is reportedly due a cut of the deal under the terms of McLean's original move to the Dons in 2015.

'Norwich has the right feel about it,' McLean told Norwich City TV.

'I've met people at the club and it just seemed this was the place for me to come. After watching them on the pitch, it seems perfect for the style I want to play.

'The club is right for me at this time of my career.

'It's good to have a pre-season in the summer with the new team and with the manager.

'I'll need to adapt to the way he wants to play, and that takes time so doing that in pre-season is right for me.

'I've always had ambitions of coming down to play in England and the Championship is an excellent league. I've been in Scotland my whole career and wanted something different.

'I let the manager at Aberdeen know that early on and then it's just been about choosing the right place for me. This is perfect.

'There's been a lot of talk about my future and taking everything into account, this felt like the right club.'

McLean was impressed with Farke's vision for the Canaries.

'The manager's philosophy suits me,' he said. 'The way he put the club across to me was excellent, and everything sounded perfect. He seems like someone everyone wants to work for.

'Hopefully I can fit in nicely and be a creative player for the team.'

Farke is looking forward to working with the Scottish international.

'Kenny is a player who is really flexible,' he said. 'He can play nearly each and every position in midfield – as a number ten, a number eight, a number six or as a winger who comes inside.

'He's full of technical ability with a high passing quality and he's able to score and assist. He's a player we really like.

'At 26, he is a good age but still wants to improve.

'Physically, he's in a good condition. He has many strengths and is a player we really like.

'We're looking forward to him strengthening our squad in the summer, and I'm looking forward to working with him.'

McLean played alongside James Maddison during the latter's loan spell last season and has scored four goals in 25 appearances for Derek McInnes' club this season, along with earning his second Scottish cap in a November 2016 friendly against the Netherlands.

City remain in the market for two more players ahead of next week's deadline.

Farke reiterated after Saturday's 2-1 Championship defeat to Sheffield United he wants attacking reinforcements, with Nelson Oliveira the only senior striker on the books after Cameron Jerome's move to Derby County.

Onel Hernandez and Ashley Fletcher have both been heavily touted with a switch to Carrow Road.
