Ebou Adams revealed he turned his back on a bigger pay packet to follow his dream after leaving Norwich City.

The 22-year-old midfielder was a prime target for Leyton Orient, following an impressive loan stint last season, but opted to join National League promotion hopefuls Ebbsfleet.

Adams has signed a two and-a-half year deal and aims to spearhead United's push for League Two after Fleet suffered a play-off near miss.

The former Dartford prospect failed to make a senior appearance at Carrow Road but is convinced he is good enough to get back into the Football League.

'There were quite a few clubs who came in but Ebbsfleet and Leyton Orient were the main ones,' he said.

'Financially, Leyton Orient offered me the better deal and it wasn't an easy decision but Ebbsfleet showed more patience.

'I still need to prove myself and hopefully Ebbsfleet is the place to do that.

'I can't wait to meet the lads because they're young and ambitious.

'It's a team you want to join and I can't wait to get going. The more games you play, the better player you become.

'It's been tough not having a full season of playing first-team football but I've learnt from Shrewsbury (on loan) and Norwich.

'Now I'm coming into a full season, hopefully I can get a lot of games under my belt and get better and better. I'll get my head down and keep working hard.'

Adams, speaking to Kent Online, sees Fleet as a perfect fit.

'What they did last season was massive,' he said, with Daryl McMahon's newly-promoted side finishing sixth before losing to play-off winners Tranmere in the semi-finals. 'It's a young team and a club on the up.

'They never lie down, never give up and that's the same attitude I have.

'That's the type of manager you want to play for, someone whose team puts everything on the line. They're a progressing team and what they did last season put that team on the map.

'Hopefully we can do the same and probably even one step further, actually going for the title.

'That helps me towards my ambition of playing in the Football League and they have the same ambition.'
