Norwich City have unveiled their new home strip for the 2022/23 season.

The announcement was made on Thursday morning, with the kit available to purchase from club retailers now.

City will wear the shirt for the first time in their opening pre-season friendly away to Dereham Town at Aldiss Park on Friday evening.

The shirt aims to put a modern twist on previous designs from the 1980s and is designed to be a modern classic. Norwich wore pinstripes for three seasons between 1981 and 1984.

Produced once again by Joma, the shirt has a sublimated pin-stripe design with yellow and green V-neck collar and sleeve trim detailing. It also contains the updated club crest for the first time. The club have also announced that the shirt will be made from 100% recycled polyester as they continue their push for sustainability.

In the announcement video released by the club on Thursday morning were City first-teamers Kieran Dowell, Andrew Omobamidele, Josh Sargent, Sam Byram, Angus Gunn and Jonathan Rowe, as well as Jonathan Tomkinson, Flynn Clarke and Lewis Shipley from the Academy, Norwich City Women players Millie Daviss, Kathryn Stanley and Megan Todd, and CSF participants Mike Mulbarton, Zoe Kent and Peter Brown.

Commercial director Sam Jefferey believes the kit has a 'bespoke design' which will excite supporters ahead of the new season.

β€œToday’s an exciting day as we release our new home kit for the 2022/23 season, which draws inspiration from the 80s but with a modern spin,” he told the club's official channels.

β€œOne of the key reasons we partnered with Joma was to ensure the club retained creative control and to allow us the freedom to deliver bespoke designs, and tailor our launches accordingly.

β€œWe’re excited to see these shirts adorn our players and fans alike throughout the 2022/23 season.”

Fans at the Norfolk Show were among the county's first to get their hands on Norwich City’s new shirt.

Stephen Ramsdale, from Norwich, believes this is the nicest kit the club has had in some time.

β€œIt was completely different to what I was expecting, I thought they would just do the solid yellow again, I did not expect to have these stripes,” he said.

β€œIt is the nicest kit we have had in a long time, I really like that Lotus is written out, and is not a symbol. I normally buy them on launch day, so I am really pleased with the kit this year.”

Luke Farrington and Sarah Lake bought their son Louie his first ever kit for his first birthday.

Mr Farrington is also really impressed by the shirt.

β€œI think it is brilliant, something very different, and I really like the redesigned badge,” he said.

β€œI did not buy the kit today, but I normally get them at some point, whether at the start of the season or towards the end - but I will get this one.”

Clinton Webster was also out at the club’s stall buying the shirt. He was surprised by its design, believing it would have looked similar to the recent graphics which have featured on Carrow Road.

β€œI buy the kit every year, as I’m a collector,” he added.

β€œI was not expecting something like this, because of what the club did outside of the ground, I thought those stripes on the side of the stadium would feature on the shirt.”
