Dean Smith has received a major boost to his squad with both Tim Krul and Jacob Sorensen returning to full team training.

City's goalkeeper sustained a shoulder injury during their 2-1 victory over Everton last month, but is now fit enough for a return with Smith facing a selection dilemma between the sticks.

Angus Gunn, who has deputised in Krul's absence, returns to his former club on Friday evening hoping to silence his critics. Smith will have to elect whether to persist with the 25-year-old or to throw Krul immediately back into the fold.

Sorensen's return is a welcome one as Smith continues to welcome back midfield options.

He is joined by Lukas Rupp, who hasn't featured in the Premier League since November. The German has been nursing a hamstring injury but has returned to training.

The only setback arrives for Andrew Omobamidele who remains sidelined with a back complaint. The teenage Irish defender is expected to be for the 'near future'.

Adam Idah is the only other player ruled out through injury, with Smith confirming last week that his knee issue would rule him out for the rest of the season.

Southampton have only been beaten once at St Mary's all season, that is the challenge facing Smith and his side to keep themselves in touch with those teams around them.

City's game against Ralph Hasenhuttl's Saints kickstarts another busy weekend of top-flight action, with the Canaries possessing the opportunity to lay down a marker ahead of their rivals playing later in the weekend.
