Group Football Editor Paddy Davitt has posted his marks following the Canaries’ 1-0 Championship win at Middlesbrough.

Here is Paddy’s verdict on Daniel Farke’s table toppers, who found a way to overcome a committed Boro in a trait which is rapidly becoming a key tenet of this Championship fightback.

• Tim Krul

Shovelled away Marvin Johnson’s low, swerving first half strike. Even when an opponent can beat him from the penalty spot, it doesn’t count. Remarkable. Third clean sheet in a row. 7

• Max Aarons

Decisive dart and exchange with Przemyslaw Placheta brought the penalty, converted by Teemu Pukki. 7

• Grant Hanley

Foiled Chuba Akpom in the first period, when Tim Krul misjudged the flight of a looping ball into his box. Even better near post block with Britt Assombalonga shaping to shoot from close range. So important now to this Norwich backline that he stays fit. 8

• Ben Gibson

Bailed out Krul, who could only parry Johnson’s initial strike. A landmark reunion with his boyhood club then looked to have turned sour when he upended Marcus Tavernier, who emerged on his blind side in the penalty area. The fates were with him however. 7

• Jacob Sorensen

Escaping a second yellow card for a late body check left Neil Warnock irate. First one for a mistimed tackle on Jonny Howson was harsh. In between another steady display in an unfamiliar position. He’d better get used to it for the foreseeable it seems. That said, part of a defence that is stacking up clean sheets. 7

• Oliver Skipp

Pleasing appetite for turnover work encapsulated by his back-tracking burst and steal to halt a Boro counter that drew applause from the away technical area. Another key intervention before the break to cut out a cross at his near post destined for Akpom. 7

• Lukas Rupp

Did not enjoy the incessant midfield press from Boro for the first 45 minutes. Arrguably had one of the Canaries’ best chances of the opening period when he dragged a right footed shot wide. Farke revealed afterwards although he finished the contest that hamstring continues to trouble the German. A worry. 7

• Emi Buendia

Had Marcus Bettinelli scrambling from 20 yards but his curler arced wide. A mesmerising run tied two Boro defenders in knots but Marco Stiepermann’s shot was blocked. Inches from connecting with Placheta’s low centre in the second half. 7

• Marco Stiepermann

Isolated prior to the interval with City’s central midfield and defence on the back foot. 6

• Przemyslaw Placheta

Two top drawer crosses in either half that travelled the length of the six yard box with no takers. His pace is a useful outlet when City are under duress. But sloppy touch on the edge of his own box contributed to the sequence that earned Boro a penalty. 7

• Jordan Hugill

Not the homecoming he was hoping for. Little or no service and a suspected shoulder ligament injury curtailed his afternoon at the interval. 6

City substitutes

• Teemu Pukki (for Hugill, 45) 7

In a rich vein of goalscoring form. Cool, wrong footing penalty take chalked up his sixth in the last nine outings for club and country. Dael Fry’s excellent last ditch challenge denied him a chance to test Bettinelli earlier. Paddy McNair deflected another angled effort into the side netting.

• Kenny McLean (for Buendia, 81) n/a

• Alex Tettey (for Stiepermann, 90+3) n/a

• Christoph Zimmermann (for Placheta, 90+3) n/a

• Mario Vrancic (for Sorensen, 90+4) n/a
