Norwich City defender Max Aarons is being warned he is in for a rough ride from cousin Rolando when play-off chasing Sheffield Wednesday look to halt the Canaries' Championship title charge on Good Friday.
The on-loan Newcastle United wide player is looking forward to a family duel at Carrow Road, after emerging as a key figure in Steve Bruce’s bid to get the Owls into the top six.
City’s young full back has been a revelation for the Canaries this season and is currently on England Under-19 duty but his cousin is starting the mind games early.
“I told Max, ‘Make sure you have got your shinpads, I am ready to play’,” Rolando said, quoted in the Sheffield Star. “He has been fantastic this year and has been unreal and I am more than happy for him. But I am going to have to show him now as I am much older than him.
“I have not got it in mind, but when the game comes up, I am going to be texting him and trying to get in his head. We will see what happens.
“In the Championship, anyone beats anyone and it is a crazy league and a few wins changed everything. You have always got a chance.”
Owls’ team mate Dominic Iorfa insists Bruce’s squad will head to Norfolk looking to win as they build up momentum for the final push.
“We are in the hunt. The manager has just said, don’t worry about the table too much. Just take each game as it comes,” he said.
“There are a lot of teams in the run in, the Championship is tough, there are a lot of teams in and around us pushing for promotion through the play offs.
“We are in the mix as well going into the last eight games and the good thing there are a lot of teams around us who have got to play us as well. So the boys are confident, we just have to play our usual game now.”
