Norwich City have got an unlikely ally in their Premier League survival fight - Brighton boss and relegation rival Graham Potter.

Potter insists the Canaries can still haul themselves to safety, despite a seven point gap to close ahead of this weekend's daunting Liverpool clash.

"There is a lot of quality down there. There are no bad teams in the league, nobody really struggling," he said, quoted on the Argus. "I know Norwich well from last year. They are a good team. Everyone down there can win, everybody is fighting for points. We can't get too worried about that in terms of the table.

"I see a lot I am optimistic about. At the same time you know this league is relentless in terms of the opposition, in terms of the quality against you. You have to keep fighting. We have got 12 games and I don't think we are far away. We need to keep working, keep pushing."

Brighton sit in 15th but only one win away from West Ham, who occupy the final relegation spot.

The Seagulls head to Carrow Road on April 11 looking to complete a league double after a comfortable 2-0 home win in November.

Prior to that meeting, the former Swansea chief revealed his admiration for Farke's work.

"Daniel has done a fantastic job because it needed changing around, there was a hangover after coming out of the Premier League," he said. "It is not easy to get up. I know myself from Swansea how difficult it is to manage that transition when you drop out of the Premier League. Now the challenge is for them to carry that on in the Premier League.

"As a club I have a great respect for them and admiration how they have worked. They have been relegated from the Premier League, they re-assessed and worked out how they wanted to come back, re-adjusted everything and have done a great job; from Daniel as a coach to the support he has had above him with Stuart Webber and the board. A brilliant job.

"This time last year they probably weren't even a top Championship team."
