Ben Godfrey inspired Shrewsbury with a man-of-the-match display in the 1-0 League One play-off semi-final second leg win over Charlton - but that will count for nothing if the powerhouse Norwich City midfielder misses out on promotion.

Fellow City loanee Carlton Morris was the match-winner in Sunday's 1-0 victory to complete a 2-0 aggregate play-off success, and tee up a Wembley winner-takes-all shoot out against either Rotherham or Scunthorpe later this month.

'It's about time we went to Wembley and won and give the fans and everyone at the club what they deserve,' Godfrey told Shrewsbury's official site. 'Charlton has gone now. We need to rest up and get ready for two weeks time to play who ever we face in the final.

'We will still be working hard the next two weeks. We know there is still a full 90 minutes of football or possibly more to achieve our dream.

'I'd never been to Wembley before I came here so I am really looking forward to it. No body wants that feeling again (Losing to Lincoln in the Football League Trophy) and seeing another team lifting the trophy in front of you while you watch so we are going to go there full of confidence.

'We are a bunch of very competitive lads so hopefully we can get the win.'

Godfrey has earned plenty of plaudits during an impressive season long loan stint in Shropshire.

'It's nice to be rewarded with man of the match. It is a special feeling but to be honest it's not what matters,' said Godfrey.

'What mattered was the score and getting that win and getting a step closer to what everyone at this club deserves.

'So I'm happy to get this reward but it means nothing at the end of the day. I'm just really proud of the lads for getting that step closer.'
