Daniel Farke's transfer wishlist has 'two to three' new faces on board before the end of the January window.

Farke admitted on Friday afternoon he was aware of the links to Aberdeen midfielder Kenny McLean but refused to be drawn on whether he is keen to sign the Scottish international.

The Sun also report the City chief has stepped up his interest in Eintracht Braunschweig's Onel Hernandez, who he was pictured meeting prior to Christmas, with a £1.7m enquiry.

Farke reiterated again, ahead of Sheffield United's weekend Championship visit, he wants sporting director Stuart Webber to deliver attacking reinforcements before January 31.

'We are now searching for strength in our squad. It is obvious that will be offensive players,' he said. 'It would be good to bring two or three in, in this window and also with a view to strengthen the squad for the summer.

'We expect some decisions in the next days and by the end of January the squad will be bigger. In this window we will bring in at least two more players.

'It could also be we can sign another one for the summer. We have the opportunity now.'

'In general, we want to strengthen in the offence and in other areas for the longer term,' said Farke. 'I don't comment on speculation or names we are linked with. Kenny McLean is a player we know, like several other players linked to us.

'When you work in this business you have to know who could be interesting for us. At the moment he is a player for Aberdeen and I fully respect this.

'I don't want other coaches speaking about how good my players are or if they want them or not so I will not speak about players who are under contract to other clubs.'
